Pet and Equine Manufacturing Expecting Growth in 2017

This article explores the pet and equine accessory industry and looks at the projected growth that the American Pet Products Association (APPA) anticipates for 2017.

The American Pet Products Association is the leading trade association in the pet industry made up of more than 1,200 pet product manufacturers, representatives, importers, and livestock suppliers. The APPA also oversees the Global Pet Expo catering to the owners of dogs, cats, fish, birds, reptiles, small animals, and equestrian animals.

For 2017, the APPA projects a 4% increase in gross sales with a large chunk of growth coming in the “Food” sector. In addition to the pet “Food” category, the APPA is also predicting a $220 million dollar increase in the pet “Supplies/OTC Medicine” industry while the “Live animal purchases” category sees a 4% decrease.
