Buyer's Guide to Wholesale Elastic

DirecTex offers woven, knitted, or braided elastic in varying widths; from 3/8” to 4”, and varying yard rolls; from 36 yard to 100 yard rolls. DirecTex wholesale elastic is used in a variety of applications including: bags and luggage, apparel items, medical devices, and orthopedic items. Stocked in black, but available in a multitude of color options.

All of our elastic is Berry Compliant.

Braided Elastic

Braided elastic is great for edging, but loses it stretch when sewn directly to fabric. Braided elastic is best used when sewing into a casing or inside a material, like the lining of a open pocket on a bag. Braided elastic is available in widths of 3/8" to 1” and stocked in black.

Knitted Elastic

Knitted elastic can also be sued in casings, but works best on light weight fabrics as knitted elastic has a soft hand and does not narrow when stretched. Unlike braided elastic, knitted elastic is not affected by needle piercing. Knitted elastic is widely used on applications where the elastic will be touching skin. Knitted elastic is stocked in black and available in 1” to 4” widths.

Woven Elastic

Woven elastic is generally thicker than the other types of elastic and maintains its original height – does not get narrow – when it is stretched, making it an ideal choice for waistbands. Because of its thickness and durability, woven elastic is also ideal when used for upholstery and home décor projects. Woven elastic is stocked in black and coyote brown colors and widths of 5/8" to 2”.
